Ariana Grande’s brother thanks her ex, Mac Miller, for drug abuse help

Mac Miller death

Ariana Grande’s brother has poured out his heart over his sister’s tragic ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, revealing the rapper’s death has left him “beyond heartbroken”.

Frankie Grande was particularly upset by Miller’s suspected drug overdose drama, because he has battled substance abuse himself.

Referring to him by his birth name, Malcolm McCormick, Frankie has taken to Instagram to offer up his tribute to the 26-year-old rapper, calling him “a good friend” and insisting he “was wonderful to my sister”.

“He was the reason I went to the rehabilitation center where I was detoxed safely from all of the drugs alcohol and medications I was taking, when I couldn’t imagine living without them,” Grande writes on Instagram. “It was the place where I found the community of support that showed me that living life without drugs was a possibility and I would never have discovered that if it weren’t for Malcolm.”

Frankie signs off by thanking Miller “from the bottom of my heart” for always being there for him.

“I remember when I would get 30, 60, 90 days clean and Malcolm would be there with a gift and a card and words of encouragement… telling me that he knew how hard getting sober is and how impressed he was that I was succeeding,” the TV personality adds.

“Addiction is a TERRIBLE disease… many people are suffering from addiction like I am and many many of them are losing. Those of us who are struggling with addiction must stay strong. We must continue to work HARD on ourselves every single day and help each other… Malcolm my friend, you will be dearly missed. And I know you will be looking down on me from heaven, proud AF (as f**k) for every day I live my life clean and sober… 453 days and counting.”

Miller was found dead at his home in California on Friday (07/09/18). Reports suggest his remains are on their way back to his native Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where fans staged a vigil for him on Tuesday night.

“I Started My Music Career Before P-Square” – Jude Okoye

Jude Okoye, the manager-brother of the now defunct P-Square group has opened up about his struggles before the fame.

In an exclusive interview with Punch, Jude revealed how he recorded an album before Mr P and Rudeboy started their music career.

Jude revealed “I had my first album done in Jos in 1995 and all the friends around me told me that it was good and record labels would pay me good money for it. As a result of that, I took a flight of N2000 from Jos to Lagos in search of a record label that would pay me for the album. I went with two empty Ghana-must-go bags because I expected that they would pay me a lot of money. Even though I didn’t know anybody there, I went to Ivory Music to see the talent manager. But when I got to the company, they told me that he was on leave and I would have to come back the next week. That’s when reality dawned on me because I hadn’t planned on how I was going to get back to Jos. From there, I went to the Ijora motor park hoping to take a bus back to Jos.

“On getting there, I found out that the bus fare was N600. I didn’t have that money so I ended up sleeping under the bridge. Being that my mother was a prophetess in Jos; once in a while, I ran into people who knew her and they gave me some money. From there, I was able to get an attachment bus ticket, which meant I had to stand all through the trip from Lagos to Jos. After that experience, I still went back to Ivory Music two months after. It was then I met Zaaki Azzay and he shared his experience with me.

The songs on my album were purely hip-hop and he advised me to infuse some Nigerian flavour into it to make it more marketable. When I eventually met the talent manager, a certain Mr. Morgan, he collected the tape and told me to come back in two weeks’ time. Meanwhile, I didn’t have a place to stay for that period so I had to squat at Bright Chimezie’s boys’ quarters with his friends at Ogba area of the state. When I went back to Mr. Morgan after two weeks, he didn’t recognise me.

At that point, I was frustrated and I told them to give me back my tape. Still, I didn’t give up and I released my songs in Jos. I became a local champion because the songs were popular then. From there, I decided that maybe a music career wasn’t meant for me and I focused on my kid brothers. Then, they were just dancers and weren’t known as P-Square. I wouldn’t say I sacrificed my career for them because it wasn’t working for me anyway.”

Peter Okoye Reveals The Real Reason Why Psquare Had to Split (Read Details)

Months after the split of the duo Psquare, Peter one half of the group explains that it was the disrespect directed towards himself and his family that pushed him to quit.

Peter Okoye, now known as Mr P, says his brother Paul would insult his wife and kids and expect a Psquare performance moments later.

Peter married Lola Omotayo-Okoye in 2015 and they have two children named Cameron and Aliona. “In life what we call family value is important,” said the ‘Ebeano’ singer said on Citizen TV in Kenya.

“The fans want Psquare but how many times do you want Psquare to come back and break up. “We’ve broken up three times and the same issue is still there. So if Psquare is going to come back we need to settle that issue. Psquare might come back, they might not come back.

Peter said he must put his wife and children first because of the vow he made on his wedding day. “I pulled out the plug because I felt the disrespect coming from my family (was) getting too much,” he said.

“There’s something we call marginalisation. Don’t ever be a slave because you want to be family. “Psquare can only come back if the respect comes 100 percent.

“I don’t disrespect my brother’s wife neither, his family but he does that to me all the time. He’ll insult me and my family in public, on Instagram, and the next minute he’ll wait for me backstage for us to perform together.

“I can’t do that. One thing is for sure, I took a vow to protect my wife and kids the day I got married and I stick to that.”

Lagbaja Returns to Stage with Simi Set to perform Alongside the Legendary Singer

Veteran Afrobeat Musician Lagbaja will be returning back to the stage since almost a decade and will be joined by “Jamb Question” crooner, Simi.

The 58-year-old musician who is also a songwriter, saxophonist and performer has not released new music song since 2012 and has not been seen on stage since. In the early 2000’s, his Motherlan’ premises in Lagos was the venue of weekly shows by him and a number of other acts. However, he was said to have relocated to the United States and his band more or less folded up. While there, he released a couple of singles but not a comprehensive body of work like his early albums.

His return to stage is something fans would look out for, especially as he’s being paired with one of Nigeria’s most promising starlets, Simi. Although the event seems for a corporate body, Lagbaja’s discography is rich enough to roll back the years and make music lovers yearn for more.

All Plans are said to be ready to unveil a New Record Label in the Western Part of Nigeria.

This was disclosed to news men in Osogbo, Osun State Capital through the media Aid to the Chief Executive Officer.

The Record Label which is to be recognized as ‘Olarm Records’ has made all official plans to unveil it’s Label and Management on the 29th of July, 2018 at Regina Suites, Osogbo.

The event is said to be classic as it is strictly by Invitation as Dignitaries from Entertainment works of life are expected to attend…

2baba Stole My Song, “Amaka” – Singer, Yoko B Cries Out

2baba has been accused of stealing his most recent record titled Amaka, by an up-and-coming artiste named Analike Okezie aka Yoko B).

2baba released the said song towards the tail end of last month, June 2018 and he featured DMW singer, Peruzzi on it. The song is about a certain Amaka who disappointed him after promising him that she would come to his house and caused him to make plans, only for the girl to fail to turn up.

Meanwhile, in Yoko B’s version, the singer also sang about how Amaka broke his heart after she claimed to love him. Asides the similarity in the theme of the songs, the beat of the two songs also sound similar.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Yoko B said, “Right now, I am fed up with some of the top artistes in this country. Once they are up there, they can never help you grow. They prefer to rip you off and frustrate your hustle. The new song, Amaka, by 2baba featuring Peruzzi is my concept. The song was produced by Richie, who also did the chorus of the song. Shortly after producing my song, Richie was employed by Larry Gaga and he left FESTAC Town for Lekki where he worked with 2baba. My songs were still on his computer at that point. I was shocked when I discovered that they had ‘stolen’ the title, concept and message of my song. I released my version about five months ago and I have been trying to promote it with the little resources I have. I was already negotiating with Avalon Okpe to direct the video when 2baba released his version. I feel bad that they cheated me because I am an up-and-coming artiste. I want the world to know what has been done to me.”

On whether he had made his grievances known to Richie personally, Yoko B said, “Yes, I complained to him but he didn’t say anything reasonable. He said anybody can come up with the title, Amaka. But I wonder why the concept and instrumental of the songs are so similar if something isn’t fishy. I am sure that somehow, 2baba must have heard the song. To cover their tracks, 2baba’s version was produced by another producer, Sperochbeatz, but they all work in the same studio.”

However, when Sunday Scoop contacted Richie, a person who claimed to be his manager answered the call and threatened our correspondent not to publish the story. He said, “The guy (Yoko B) is just looking for cheap fame. I am Richie’s manager and I know about the whole story. We really don’t have anything to say concerning the matter. He should go anywhere in the world concerning the issue. For your own good, I would advise you not to publish the story. I don’t know if Yoko B has the power to finish what he has started.”

When contacted, 2baba’s manager, Efe Omoregbe, stated that he was unaware of the allegation. He said, “This is the first time I’m hearing about that claim and I cannot comment on what I don’t know about.”

Wizkid Stole My Song and Got Me Blacklisted – Blackface

Veteran singer and former member of the defunct Plantashun Boiz, Blackface, has reiterated his claim that artistes like Wizkid stole his song. He also expressed his unhappiness about the killings around the country in a chat with Saturday Beats.
During the chat, he said that the killings around the country would have reduced if only Nigerian singers unite with one voice to speak against the menace.

“They have killed a lot of people from my village, Agatu, in Benue. They have also killed people in Makurdi, and other places in Benue; then as they move up north to Adamawa, the trail of dead bodies continues. It does not affect my state alone. Sadly, the musicians are not doing anything about it. Some musicians just claim that they help victims either to gain public praises or for political reasons. Why can’t we come together and think of ways we can stop the killings probably by staging a concert?” he said.

The singer further told Saturday Beats that as a socially conscious singer, he has always sung about the ills of the society but the radio stations would not play his songs because he is in their bad books. He claimed that ever since he raised the alarm that certain singers stole some of his songs, he became blacklisted by the media.

“I did a song which preaches against the killings but radio stations would not play it because I am in their bad books. Simply because I said some people stole my songs, that is why they placed me in their bad books. I know there is a plan against me. I am an independent musician and I do not need Tuface to push my music. If I release a song titled, ‘Stop the killings,’ and the radio big boys do not play it, only a few people would listen to the message I am preaching which is of national benefit. The so-called big OAPs like Freeze, who is always talking about pastors, are on the radio but they are not doing anything to push socially conscious songs that preach a message. But if Tekno sings a ‘Jogodo’, they will gladly play it. Their nonchalant attitude would destroy a lot of things and only bring more chaos. I have always advised the younger artistes to seek the permission of older artistes before they use their songs but no one listened. Wizkid took my song, ‘Whine it,’ sang it with Banky W and put it on his album, ‘Starboy.’ That same song is on my album, ‘Dancehall business.’ When I raised the alarm, the whole media kicked against me and they stopped playing my music. Yet they say I am the bad one. How long would they keep sabotaging me?” he said.

Gwen Stefani is honoured to follow Jennifer Lopez’s ‘incredible’ Las Vegas residency

Gwen Stefani was blown away by the Las Vegas residency of her friend Jennifer Lopez.

The former No Doubt star is kicking off her own 25-date residency at the city’s Zappos Theater inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. And in a recent interview, Gwen recalled her memories of the On the Floor hitmaker’s captivating run of shows.

“I’ve always looked up to Jennifer,” the 48-year-old explained in an interview with Britain’s Closer magazine. “(Her Las Vegas show) was incredible, and she works so hard. I admire her a lot, she was breathtaking on stage. When you see her up close, it’s like, ‘You are so gorgeous!’”

The Hollaback Girl singer has only ever headlined three tours, with the last one being her This Is What the Truth Feels Like Tour in 2016. Her main reason for her lack of shows is her three children – 12-year-old Kingston, 9-year-old Zuma and 4-year-old Apollo – whom she shares with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.

“I love being with my children. I have three kids and it’s a big deal!” she insisted. “For the last ten years, I haven’t really toured. (Performing) takes so much out of me as far as being able to focus on the rest of my life with the kids.”

Gwen plans to keep to tradition and do her own make-up before she heads on stage as she feels “there is a kind of meditation in the preparation.” The singer has also been working out five days a week.

“I can’t imagine not doing it,” she admitted. “I’d like to have no rules and eat what I want, but I’ve learned over the years that I’m so disappointed when I can’t wear the clothes I want to wear.”

#BBNaija: Tobi Explains Why Some Reality Stars Don’t Last After The Show

Second runner-up of BBNaija Double Wahala, Tobi Bakre spoke to Pulse recently and explained why the reality stars fade away after the shows like Big Brother Naija.

The reality star also spoke about why the Big Brother Naija: Double Wahala show and contestants are still trending on social media, and what makes the edition different from the previous season.

Read the interview below:

On why reality stars fade away

Some people are not out there for the social media life. Like naturally, they are not out there for that kind of life. So they go into the reality show for whatever reason and after the show, they sink back into their private life.

But for some others, they want showbiz, they want to act, they want to host, they want to be out there. I think that’s the clear divide. They are some people that have things they want to do that need them to be out there, they need to be seen, they need to remain famous.

But for some people, it’s more like, ‘yea, I have gotten this level of buzz and it’s okay. It was fun while it lasted but I’d rather have my private life.’ So I think it’s a decision thing.

And then for some people, maybe they tried somethings to be in the showbiz world and it doesn’t go as planned. Because when you come out, people have like very high expectations, and if you don’t deliver, you just crawl back in.

On what makes the Double Wahala season different from the Gobe edition

I think the difference is that last year, everybody had a clear favorite. I mean they had people they loved, but then everybody kind of had a clear favorite.

But this time around, the finalists had their own “pushers.” They had people that were like, ‘we die for these people.’ So even when they left the house, they [fans]] take your matter so personal.

Like people in my camp, my Tobination family, the way they take [my] matter, even [I’m] like, “it’s not that serious.’ But it’s all love. They love and believe in the housemates, so they follow through.

It’s no more about the reality show, it’s now about, ‘mehn, we are invested in you.’ Everyone supporting me is like friends and family. Because I know how it is. Last year did I vote? I didn’t vote. For you to take out your phone to vote for someone, that means you want good for the person. So I really appreciate everyone who is pushing and supporting.

The third season of #BBNaija came to an end on April 22, with Miracle as the winner, Cee-C as the first runner-up, and Tobi as the second runner-up.

An Islamic group, Muslims Rights Concern (MURIC), yesterday released a statement ordering Falz to take down the video which they claim ridicules their religion due to some girls seen wearing hijab and dancing shaku shaku in the video.

However, Falz’s management have reacted to the ultimatum given to him by MURIC. According to them, the video won’t be taken down. They advised the group to head to court to address their grievances and that they are ready to meet them there.

They said:-

“We have nothing to say. We are not withdrawing the video neither are we commenting on their claims. If they (MURIC) have any grievance they can head to court and we will meet them”.
