Lucas Moura has won the Premier League Player of the Month award for August after a string of fine performances for Tottenham.

Moura, who has been given a run in the Spurs team under Mauricio Pochettino with Heung-Min Son on international duty with South Korea, has enjoyed his finest spell at the club since joining from Paris Saint-Germain in January.

Maurizio Sarri insists there is still more to come from Chelsea following their 3-0 win at Huddersfield on the opening weekend of the Premier League.

Chelsea had to dig deep early on against Huddersfield but went in at the break with a two-goal cushion thanks to N’Golo Kante and summer signing Jorginho.

Pedro wrapped up a 3-0 opening-day win after Eden Hazard came off the bench as Sarri’s men made a confident start to the campaign, looking far stronger compared to last weekend’s Community Shield loss to Manchester City.

“I’m very happy for the three points,” Sarri told Sky Sports. “For us, in this first part of the championship it’s not very easy to gain points. I think in this moment we are not at the top of our potential.

“The first half was hard. If you look at the result, you can think about an easy game, but in the first half we were in trouble for 15 minutes against a very physical team.

“We are not a physical team and I think the best of the game is the capacity of suffering for 15 minutes. Then I think in the second half the opponents were a bit tired and it was easier.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has played his last game for Manchester United, after signing a two-year deal with LA Galaxy.

According to ESPN, the MLS club will pay Ibrahimovic $3million total using targeted allocation money.

The 36-year-old will not be a designated player, with LA already using its three allotted slots for highly paid players on Giovani dos Santos, Jonathan dos Santos and Romain Alessandrini.

The deal is expected to be announced by the end of the week.

Ibrahimovic could make his debut on March 31 in his new club’s first-ever game against MLS expansion team LAFC.

The Swedish striker joined United from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in 2016, but has not played since aggravating a knee injury against Burnley on December 26.

He has four months left on his current contract, but has been allowed to leave the club as a free agent.

Jose Mourinho admits he has not got the best out of Alexis Sanchez since his January transfer because the former Arsenal forward moved to Manchester United at the “wrong” time.

Sanchez was signed in a swap deal that reportedly made him the Premier League’s best-paid player but the Chile international has scored just one goal in eight United appearances, well below his career strike rate.

Mourinho, whose team take on Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday, believes it will be next season before the 29-year-old shows his best form.

“What is wrong is that he came at the worst moment of the season, in the winter market,” said the Manchester United boss. “That’s why I don’t like the winter market very much.

“I think this was a chance that we didn’t want to lose and we made. But we don’t believe a lot in the winter market.

“And for sure next season will be better for him. But of course he is learning how to play with us and we are learning how to get the best out of him.”

Pundits have suggested integrating Sanchez in mid-season has had an adverse effect on the form of teammates, in particular midfielder Paul Pogba.

But despite the obvious teething problems, Mourinho does not see Sanchez as a weakness in the United team.

“No. That’s something that we can develop and we’re going to develop with time, with experience and living these experiences together,” said the manager.

“I don’t consider that a weakness, I consider that a huge potential to be developed.

“He’s fit and if he is trying too hard, that’s great. He is not afraid to take responsibilities, not afraid to try things.”

Sanchez’s eight appearances have included two defeats, at Tottenham and Newcastle, which all but ended United’s lingering hopes of challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title.

– Sanchez happy –

But despite an underwhelming start to Sanchez’s United career, Mourinho said the player remains happy.

“He’s fine,” said the United boss. “He’s happy that the team is getting results — lately he was unhappy when we lost matches with him but he’s a guy with great maturity and attitude and we couldn’t be happier.”

United’s eagerly awaited league encounter with rivals Liverpool comes with both clubs chasing second spot behind champions-elect City.

And, at the start of a week in which Mourinho is also looking to progress in the Champions League and FA Cup, the United manager believes he and opposite number Jurgen Klopp are at similar stages in terms of developing their clubs.

“They have qualities and they have weaknesses,” he said. “We have qualities, and we have weaknesses.

“And one of my good qualities as coach was always to know my team’s weaknesses very well and sometimes I tried to hide them and sometimes I have to try to compensate them with other things.

“But we are very similar in terms of points in the Premier League. Liverpool have already qualified for the (Champions League) quarter-final and we still have 90 minutes or two hours of a big fight to try to be there.”

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 2 MANCHESTER UNITED 1: MOURINHO’S MEN SUFFER FIRST DEFEAT AS LINDELOF ERROR PROVES COSTLY.  Marcus Rashford’s late goal was not enough for Manchester United as Huddersfield Town claimed a shock win. Manchester United’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season came to an end in a shock 2-1 loss at Huddersfield Town on Saturday, with Victor Lindelof the villain of the piece. Former Benfica defender Lindelof was brought on as a replacement for the injured Phil Jones in the 25th minute and the hosts scored both of their goals shortly after his introduction, with United unable to claw things back despite Marcus Rashford’s late goal.

Jose Mourinho’s side appeared to be in control until Jones’ withdrawal, but suddenly the home side turned the tables, scoring two within eight minutes of Lindelof’s entrance. Aaron Mooy netted the opener, before Laurent Depoitre added the second as he punished an awful error from United’s Sweden international international centre-back. United’s response was by no means emphatic, with Mourinho’s men remaining devoid of craft in the final third, leaving Romelu Lukaku lacking service for most of the match. Rashford – a half-time substitute for Anthony Martial – pulled one back for United with 12 minutes to go, but Huddersfield managed to hold on to a slender win to seal a famous day for the Terriers, who claimed their first top-flight triumph since August.

The German watched on as the Terriers stunned United at the John Smith’s Stadium in West Yorkshire.

Goals from Aaron Mooy and Laurent Depoitre put them 2-0 up in the first half, before Marcus Rashford pulled one back late on.

“I said to the players that I wouldn’t expect a result, but that I can believe in a result,” Wagner said.

“That is why it so huge for us. It’s a very proud moment, that we were able to beat Manchester United at home.

“In one game you can have a chance. If there is a chance, try to catch it. Today was our moment because we were at our best and maybe they weren’t. It is one of the proudest moments in my career. It makes me very happy.

“I haven’t thought about why Manchester United weren’t at their best. They have played a lot of games and they had injury problems. It could be they are not at their freshest, but we didn’t think about that.

“If this is our moment, we have to grab it, which is what the players did. Small Huddersfield have beaten Man United and it one of the proudest moments in my managerial career.

“It’s another chapter in the fairytale we started nearly two years ago. It has shown everything is possible in football. Today was our moment. It makes everyone very happy and very proud.”

That was a very confident statement of intent from United. Matic was good, Lukaku scored twice, and there were patches when United played with devastating speed in attack. Most importantly, they scored four goals, something they managed only once in the league in the previous two seasons. It would be wrong to jump to conclusions, so that’s what everyone will do, but United were good today.

Alvaro Morata Agrees 5-Year-Deal + £350,000-A-Week Deal With Man United (See Details)

The Spain international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho looks to sign a marquee striker.

Mourinho initially set his sights on signing Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, but interest ended in him after he opted to stay in Spain.

But he is closing in on landing his alternative target with The Sun claiming the 24-year-old has agreed to sign on the dotted line.

It is said he has penned a five-year deal worth £350,000-a-week and personal terms have been agreed with the Real striker.

Morata will earn a staggering £90million in wages over those five years.

But The Sun say Real are playing hardball over the transfer fee for the striker.

The La Liga champions want to make a profit on Morata after buying him back from Juventus for just over £26m last summer.

Real chief Florentino Perez apparently wants the transfer fee to reflect the £90m wages he will earn at Manchester United.

And he has apparently told United chiefs that their willingness to pay £100m for Griezmann has set the bar for negotiations.

The La Liga champions have already rejected an opening bid of £65m for Morata.

But should United agree to pay a world-record £90m for him it would mean they would have shelled out an incredible £180m to broker a deal for Morata.

However, The Daily Star claim David De Gea could be key to securing the striker’s signature.

It is believed that Mourinho will offload Real’s top transfer target if they hand over Morata and pay an extra £45m for the keeper.
